Hyundai iLoad Turbo Trouble
Hyundai iLoad Turbochargers are trouble. We see a lot of failed turbos, especially on the pre-2013 models.
iLoad turbo trouble comes mostly from dirty oil build up and consequential sludge in the motor.
The usual reason for this is a problem with the seals on the injectors.
Incorrect combustion due to leaks in the diesel injectors cause the oil to degrade.
Degraded, ‘dirty’ oil collects and builds up in various parts of the oil system.
Oil-feed and drain lines for the turbo are susceptible to build-up, thereby restricting oil flow in and out of the turbocharger.
Turbo failure becomes more likely from this oil restriction, due to little oil flow into turbo, or oil blocked from leaving the turbo.
How to Prevent and Remedy Hyundai iLoad Turbo Issues:
1) Fix the diesel injector problem mentioned above, if that problem exists.
2) Keep to a regular maintenance schedule.
Have a quality oil / filter service done every 10,000km or LESS.
Every 3 or so services, have the entire oil system flushed out and change oil brands.
3) If you are unfortunate to already have suffered turbo failure, consider swapping it out for a quality replacement.
